Nowadays, the peculiarities of megacities impose high demands on the reliable and uninterrupted electric power supply. 20 kV electrical network development in large megacities is caused by the increase of single engineering facilities capacity up to 15-30 MW. The resources of 6-10 kV networks to provide such capacities are almost exhausted. 20 kV electrical network further development requires both the improvement of technical solutions and the updating of technical and normative documentation in terms of the electrical network design and operation.

The features of separating power stations with its auxiliaries and 6-20 kV load from power system are determined. The calculation results of modes when separating a single generator and changing electrical load are given. Regularities that may also appear in other modes are found out. The load stability influence on the choice of emergency control measures for allocated power district is determined. Requirements for power plant unloading speed when its forced separation from power system are formulated.

Two methods of sensory branches searching in power system are considered (experimental method based on disturbances simulation in the RastrWin software and singular analysis). The results obtained by the two methods are compared. A conclusion regarding to singular analysis applicability for determining sensitive branches of electric power systems is made.

The new standards for 6-500 kV cable lines issued in recent years no longer provide guidance on cable inspection for non-ignition under the influence of short-circuit currents, and, for this reason, engineers have excluded such testing from their practice. In the new article an attempt is made to understand whether it is possible not to be afraid of ignition of 6-500 kV cable lines at short circuits.

Existing designs of controlled shunt reactors are shown in the article. A new modified series of magnetically controlled shunt reactors, its design distinguishing feature and its extended functional capabilities are explained. Negative side of сurrently in use desing which caused a development of modified magnetically controlled shunt reactors is mentioned. Both types magnetically controlled shunt reactor and thyristor-controlled shunt reactor have non-linear parameters of current and voltage that cause negative effect on power quality. Notably that harmonic distortion of current and voltage in the modified series of magnetically controlled shunt reactors is lowered to meet the standards requirements. The implementation of power quality control in a grid with non-symmetric non-linear load by modified series of reactive power sources with independent phase regulation is suggested.

The condition and the level of operation quality of the electrical complex of submersible electrical equipment of oil fields directly depend on the accident-free and reliable operation of the constituent elements of the well equipment, especially the transmission, distribution and consumption systems, the main ones being submersible electric motors (SEM) and submersible cable line (SCL). Submerged electric equipment (SEE) of oil production, including SEM and SCL during operation are subject to the influence of a large number of external factors and impacts, their operation is associated with a variety of operating modes. To obtain information about their technical status use the data of failure statistics of operation. It can be argued that this method of analyzing the state of the object is the most acceptable for obtaining, describing and expressing in quantitative equivalent the reliability indicators of SEE. In order to fully understand the current state of the SEE park, including the SEM and SCL, the article presents the results of a statistical accidents rate. At the current time, data on technological violations at oil production enterprises have been collected and analyzed with the development of recommendations for improving the reliability of the electrical complex of SEE oil production.
