Abstract. Development of regulatory requirements together with application of technological innovations in electrical networks have contributed to improvement of the energy quality management in the Russian electrical networks for 35 kV and higher voltage. However, permanent underfunding of 0,4-110 kV distribution networks, power increase of non-linear and asymmetric loads combined with no effective practice of cooperation between grid companies and confounding consumers give no way to profound improvement of the energy quality. Estimation of last-year innovations in the energy quality management, current issues and possible solutions are provided in this article.

On the limited values of voltage frequency deviation in TPP generating installations and histograms of its distribution

Abstract. The nature and the limits of frequency deviation of the voltage produced by TPP generating installations are considered in this article. Voltage frequency histograms have been plotted to obtain daily the supplementary information on generator operation online. Voltage frequency deviation from its basic value does not exceed ±0,065 Hz during a week. Comments on possible conversion of such voltage frequency deviations into additional ‘slow voltage oscillations’ are provided too.

Abstract. Nowadays the development of technologies that ensure an increase of the of existing power systems capacity use effi ciency is a state-of-the-art problem. The paper presents the results of the development of an adaptive automation system for limiting the overhead power lines overload, based on the DLR systems development international experience studies and adapted to the domestic practice of operating overhead lines with an expansion in terms of the use of emergency automation. The main difference between the proposed system and the existing ones appears in its adaptiveness, i.e. in taking into account the actual OHL operating conditions while determining its permissible OHL rating.

Simulation of electric modes of open-ended overhead transmission lines

Abstract. Based on the matrix theory of generalized quadripoles and the method of phase coordinates the mathematical models of multi-conductor open overhead lines (OPLs) of power transmission are proposed. The structures of double-circuit high-voltage overhead lines and overhead lines with split phase wires are used to divide them into direct and reverse components. A technique for analyzing the static modes of high-voltage overhead lines based on equivalent transformations of the original incorrect systems of the VLF static mode equations to the normal form of the systems of linear algebraic equations is formulated. Its application is possible for any real number of VLF components, including unequal numbers of forward and reverse parts. Dividing each phase into two (or more) longitudinal parts allows to increase carrying capacity, due to compensation of its longitudinal inductance by distributed capacitance between its wires.

Calculation of cable lengths up to 1 kV with voltage losses of 1%

Abstract. This article discusses general information about calculating the length of cables with a voltage of up to 1 kV with voltage losses in 1% of the power supply system of an industrial enterprise. The consequences of the deviation of voltage losses in the cable from the normalized value are given. The method of calculating the length of cable lines up to 1 kV, based on the use of a system of relative units, is considered. The ways of reducing the percentage of losses in cables up to 1 kV of the power supply system of an industrial enterprise, which can be used both independently and comprehensively, are indicated.

On simplifi cation of relay protection for 110-220 kV lines in the dynamic stability zone of power station generators

Abstract. Regulatory documents of SO UPS and the Ministry of Energy of Russian Federation toughen requirements to power system operation stability and the relay protection that supports it. A project of the line relay protection in the stability zone of power station generators turns to be complicated and expensive with respect to these documents. The protections enabling dynamic stability of power station generators that simplify the line protection design are proposed in this article. Examples of the line protection design are provided.

Abstract. Seven cases of broadband measurements of high-frequency switching overvoltages under operating conditions in the absence of special voltage dividers are presented. A capacitive sensors were used as voltage detectors in two cases. In them measurements on the overhead line wire gave false results and voltage measurements on the substation bus required correction. Five cases of overvoltage measurement during switching of power transformers and shunt reactors were recognized as the most reliable, in which the capacitances of the main insulation of the bushings were used as the upper arm of the voltage divider.
