Abstract. The causes of changes in the zero-sequence component of the current of the fundamental frequency in low-voltage networks with an increase in the transient resistance of the neutral contacts of the cable have been investigated. The reasons for the growth of the resistance of contact points of the neutral of the cables in the electric network have been defined. In this paper, the effect of changes in the value of phase current, phase angle between current and voltage, as well as the resistance of the contact points of the neutral conductor on the value of the zero sequence component of currents of the fundamental frequency has been considered. Calculations and simulation results are obtained using Matlab/Simulink software package for non-symmetric modes of operation of a 380 V electric network with a solidly grounded neutral with an increase in the transient resistance of the contact points of the neutral conductor of the cable. An algorithm for evaluation of the technical condition of the transient resistance of the contact points of neutral conductor depending on the results of instrumental monitoring of the indicators of power quality has been presented. Analysis of the reasons for the change of the coefficient of nonsymmetrical for the zero sequence component current of the fundamental frequency has been performed. According to the standards, the boundary values of the resistance of contact points of the neutral of the cable have been determined.

Abstract. As of today, regular violations of regulatory requirements for power quality indexes take place in the high-voltage electrical networks of Russia. Such violations negatively affect large consumers and responsible technological processes. The largest economic damage arises at facilities where electromagnetic interference leads to power outages of electric motors. The paper analyzes voltage unbalance as one of the most dangerous interferences for electric motors. The impact of intermittent voltage unbalance on the electric motors, as well as the method of its measurement in the electrical networks are considered.

Abstract. Electric arc furnaces (EAF) are one of the main appliances for melting the high-quality alloyed steel. Thanks to their key features – such as fast heating of a metal, upkeeping of preset temperature and chemical makeup – EAF are known as top performers in steel industry all over the world. However, due to features of the processing, electric arc furnaces exercise adverse effects on supply mains as an electric consumer. In modern Russian practice empiric methods are usually applied to consider questions connected with power quality indexes. The drawback of such methods is contained in inability to take into account all the specific features during the melting process. Authors of the article describe the process of the creating of a mathematical model which may be used either in education process or during the manufacturing.

Abstract. The problem is considered in terms of determining the declared capacity for consumers of services (geographically networked and adjacent network organizations) for the purposes of settlements with Rosseti FGC UES Company for services for the transmission of electric energy through the Unified National Electrical Network. The urgency of the problem lies in the significant impact of the magnitude of the declared power on the tariff for the transmission of electricity for grid companies, and, consequently, on the cost of electricity for the end user. Anumber of alternative calculation methods are presented that have the right to exist according to the wording of current legislation. The common mechanism determining the value of the declared power and reflecting the physics of the processes in electric grid operators was composed.

Abstract. The paper is devoted to the issue of optimal arrangement of phase-synchronization measurement units (PMU) in the nodes of 500-330-220 kV network of the Azerbaijan power grid (PG).The objective of the work is to ensure the survivability of the power grid in the conditions of functioning in the scheme of integration of PGs of Russia, Iran, Georgia, Turkey. The optimal locations of PMU arrangement in the Azerbaijani PG are determined, which provide full observability of the PG and allow to monitor the transfer capability and static stability margins, as well as to consider the dynamic processes at emergency conditions in real time. Keywords: power system, survivability, observability, optimal arrangement, phase-synchronization measurement units, integrated information and measurement system

Abstract. Reliability of overhead power lines is reduced in areas with high probability of formation of ice-frost deposits. The article presents a comparative analysis of innovative types of wires of domestic production such as AST and ASPT with traditional non-insulated steel-aluminum wire. The comparison of the wire temperature values from the current load; the maximum permissible currents, ice melting currents of different thickness, the values of the preventive heating currents of the wire from the air temperature and wind speed. It is revealed that the most option is to replace the steel-aluminum wire with a high-temperature compact wire of a smaller cross section.

Abstract. In no. 6(45), 2017 of the journal, the article “The voltage induced on the cable line 6-500 kV” was published, where it was shown that the disconnected cables can be induced with 50Hz voltage, reaching tens of Volts for each kilometer of the line length, and posing a danger to maintenance personnel. A new article on this topic is intended to complement the considerations set out in the 2017 material.

Abstract. The use of hybrid active filters for higher harmonics filtering and transient damping in 3-35 kV electrical networks as an inexpensive alternative to passive resonant filters is considered. It is shown that the hybrid active filter of the AFD type, installed on 10 kV buses, supplying a powerful rectifier operating in a cyclic load mode, reduces the level of canonical and non – canonical harmonics by more than 3 times, and the interharmonic components of the voltage – to minor residues.

Abstract. The paper provides an analysis of the methodological error that occurs when determining active power in the power lines with the presence of a significant amount of current and voltage harmonics. It is established that this error doesn’t affect the determination of active powers balance in the node, but may give measuring fault for active power of the lines outgoing from this node.

Abstract. One of emergency shutdowns causes of power plant generators is conductors failure due to various damages of support insulation. Among the most frequent damages are insulators flashover due to their contamination, insulation breakdowns due to insulating part failure, insulation destruction because of partial discharges, and electrothermal breakdowns. The paper proves impact of various external factors on change of support insulation properties and insulation destruction during operation. Electric field, temperature and moisture are considered among afore-mentioned factors (the intensity of the impact may be different for each concrete factor). According to practical experience, the time for searching and replacing damaged insulators vary from three to five days while the total number of insulators can reach 1000 units. This results in significant expenditures for power plants operating in the wholesale electric power market. Thus, early insulation fault determination and, as a result, increasing operational integrity and ensuring continuous power supply are considered as urgent tasks.

Abstract. The primary task identified in the energy strategy of Russia is the development of modern domestic microprocessor devices for localizing emergency situations in power grids and high-precision methods for determining the location of damage to power lines. The article “Empirical criteria for determining the location of damage in 6 kV electrical networks” justified the possibility of determining the location of damage in 6 kV networks using empirical criteria for different types of emergency conditions. In this article, the effectiveness of the proposed empirical criteria for determining the location of damage in 6 kV networks when changing the parameters of the 6 kV electrical network: the length of the line, the load power, the tangent of the load angle, the parameters of the supply and consumer transformers, the cross section of the wires, the phase coordinates of the line is investigated. Studies have shown the high efficiency of application of empirical criteria developed earlier for all possible feeder parameters. The difference in the errors of the WMD for all considered parameters is 0.73-2.48%. In this case, the error of the MLE for all emergency modes is 1.28-6.71%, except for modes with phase breaks, when the error is 10.32-15.44%.
