POWER QUALITY
Measurement and Analysis of Power Quality Indicators at 110 kV Traction Substations of Taishet-Tulun Transit
Visyashchev A.N., Tiguntsev S.G., Fedosov D.S. (Irkutsk National Research Technical University)
Terskikh Yu.N., Visyashchev A.A. (Irkutsk Electric Grid Company, JSC)
Abstract. The article discusses particular results of scientific and practical work on analyzing the power quality in the external power supply system of railway substations in the Irkutsk region. Based on measurement results in 2016-2017, it has been established that the level of voltage harmonics and asymmetry at the Taishet-Tulun transit traction substations does not meet the requirements of Russian standard GOST 32144-2013. Multiple excesses of allowed values of power quality indicators are observed. A method is proposed for identifying distorting loads based on the level of correlation between voltage and distortion current at the feeder. Analysis of measurements showed that the loads of substations of JSC “Irkutsk Electric Grid Company” and LLC “Transneft-Vostok” have correlation coefficients between voltages and distortion currents in the range from 0.6 to 1.0, which corresponds to the non-distorting nature of the loads. At the same time, the correlation coeffi cient between voltages and distortion currents at the traction substations of OJSC «Russian Railways» is less than 0.6 in absolute value, which indicates the presence of distortion sources at the feeders under consideration. The correlation coefficients between the vibration level of 6 kV motors and voltage asymmetry at the oil pumping station “Nizhneudinskaya” are below 0.6, which allows us to consider these parameters to be unrelated to correlation. A possible reason for the lack of correlation is the nonlinear relationship between the vibration level and voltage unbalance.

Abstract. The electric network control shall provide for general requirements to consumer power supply, including: the energy quality, power supply reliability, preservation of static and dynamic stability, cost-efficiency, etc. This requires the optimal control of normal operating modes of a distribution network. Apparently, it’s quite problematic to cover all requirements at once; therefore, a set of limits for the permissible value range is defi ned depending on the task (in particular, the operating mode parameters related to voltage). Analysis of the power system node sensitivity and study of the network parameter infl uence on the voltage change in rigid and sensitive nodes may be used as a method of the optimal voltage control in a power system. To provide the required level of reliability and the due energy quality it is important to define the sensitive nodes that are extremely sensitive to minor changes in the network operating mode. Therefore, it is essential to choose the optimal methods for defining the nodes that are most sensitive to different changes in a power system. The article describes possible ways of accomplishing this task.
Keywords: electric energy quality, voltage regulation, sensor node, rigid node.

Abstract. The article considers the static load model characteristics (SLMC) impact on technical losses by regulating voltage in the distribution network. It is shown that with active voltage increasing the losses have been increasing significantly for SLMC with a regulating effect more than one. Measured by experiments SLMC in the distribution network indicate a high regulating effect of the load due to voltage increasing by one percent that leads to load and losses growth by 1.2-2.3%. The economic effect of regulating (increasing) voltage is associated primarily with the rise of annual gross revenue from transmission services due to increase in electricity consumption. Annual revenue rise becomes many times greater than possible costs and provides a positive economic effect.
Keywords: energy losses, distribution networks, static load characteristics, voltage regulation, productive supply, economic benefit.

Abstract. Regulatory requirements for reliability indexes of electrical power networks are considered. It is shown that there is a regulatory gap in determining the maximum level of improvement in reliability indexes. An approach is proposed for determining the acceptable level of reliability of power networks based on identifying failure log entries that are not related to violations of regulatory requirements for operation. An analysis of the dynamics of reliability indexes of a grid company was performed. The influence of equipment failure rates on reliability indexes with a constant network structure has been determined. Criteria for determining the permissible failure rate of power network equipment are proposed to assess the irreducible level of network reliability under current operating conditions. An assessment of the acceptable values of reliability indexes of a grid company has been carried out.

Provision of the Consumer Power Supply During Single-Phase Faults in Overhead MV Transmission Networks

Abstract. Accidents in electrical networks are a common phenomenon, mainly associated with breaks and short circuits of conductors of overhead and cable lines. As a result of an accident, consumers are disconnected from the network, which can cause serious problems, especially in conditions of low temperatures. This article proposes to consider a conceptual approach to power supply to consumers in case of single-phase damage to power lines of 6-10 kV in post-emergency modes, which will minimize the time of disconnection of consumers and ensure continuity of power supply. The analysis of the research of domestic scientists devoted to the issues of ensuring the operability and reliability of the functioning of electric networks is carried out. The analysis showed that the main approaches to ensure continuous power supply to consumers in case of single-phase damage to electrical networks are the use of backup power sources, optimization of control and monitoring systems, as well as the use of modern technologies for diagnosing and predicting the condition of equipment. The proposed concept is based on the idea of maintaining the elements of the electrical network in working condition until the cause of the accident is eliminated.

Features of 6-500 kV Cable Insulation and Outer Sheath with Longitudinal Ribs
Dmitriev M.V. (FSEE “PEIPK”)
Abstract. In recent years, the magazine has repeatedly published materials on the justification of the choice of cores and screens of modern cables with XLPE insulation, as well as optimization of grounding schemes for screens of such cables. At the same time, cables, in addition to cores and screens, have other elements that deserve no less attention – these are insulation and sheath. This article tells about some of their features, including increased values of the working capacity of the XLPE insulation, as well as the experience of operating cables with a sheath covered with longitudinal ribs.

Influence of Inhomogeneities in Power Transmission Lines on Parameters of Travelling Wave Leading Edge
Khuzyashev R.G., Irkagalieva I.I., Tukhfatullin I.R. (KSEU, Kazan)
Abstract. A single-phase earth fault in inhomogeneous power lines is modeled in the PSCAD package. The forms of transient signals propagating in the line in the form of traveling wave are studied. The parameters of current and voltage transient signals in electric lines of high and medium voltage classes are compared. Frequency dependences of their propagation coefficient are given. The results of modeling show the destructive influence of concentrated inhomogeneities on the leading edge of the traveling voltage wave. It is shown that in medium voltage class lines with small length, the time parameters of the leading edge are comparable to those for high voltage class lines with long length. This is the justification for the possibility of using wave-based fault location in medium-voltage class networks.

Abstract. Faults in voltage measuring circuits make the remote operation of transmission line relay protection and automation during earth faults impossible. Therefore, all fault location detection methods for overhead transmission lines included into the available software and operating devices become unworkable. The authors propose an algorithm of fault and pre-fault voltage components’ recovery by the registered currents in the overhead transmission line to perform one-side fault location detection. The algorithm is simple in terms of technical implementation and may be used in modern digital relay protection terminals and fault location detection units of overhead transmission lines without signifi cant redesign. Keywords: fault location detection in transmission lines, a fault in voltage measuring circuits, fault voltage recovery, fault parameters, remote principle.
