Power Electronic Devices for Balancing Adjustment of Operating Modes and Reactive Power Compensation in Three-phase Overhead Transmission Lines
Astashev M.G. (National Research University MPEI, Moscow) Lunin K.A. (JSC .M. Khrzhizhanovsky Power Engineering Institute, Moscow), Panfilov D.I. (JSC NTTS FGC UES)
Abstract. In present-day operating conditions three-phase distribution networks provide the power supply for heterogeneous, dynamic time-varying loads, among which the major share is with either asymmetric or single-phase loads. Such peculiarities of power consumption cause asymmetric operating modes that manifest themselves as unbalanced loading of individual phases or asymmetry of phase and linear voltages in process connection nodes. Combined impact of asymmetric network operating modes, high levels of transmitted reactive power, nonlinearity and high dynamics of load variation together with total increase of power consumption increasingly affect the energy quality indices and network operation efficiency. Well-known technologies of balancing and compensation of reactive power in electrical networks turn out to be inefficient in present-day conditions. The article tackles upon new approaches to design of mode balancing devices and reactive power compensators in transmission lines that improve their performance, reliable active-adaptive operation, and make them available for potential consumers.
Keywords: three-phase network, current and voltage asymmetry, balancing device, reactive power compensator, semi-conductive converter, thyristor switch.

Determination of the Effective Electricity Supply Radius of Consumers

Abstract. The emerging trend in Russia and the world of transition from vertical to horizontal management, from centralized energy supply systems to distributed and decentralized ones, the manifestation of integration processes in the energy sector will consistently lead to a change in the role of the wholesale electricity and capacity market (WECM) and an increase in the importance of the retail market. In this regard, a new class of tasks arises to create a unified retail market for electrical, heat energy and power (URMEP), which are technologically combined at the level of production of electrical and thermal energy at CHPPs, on the one hand and consumption of both types of energy, on the other hand. An analysis of the scientific and regulatory literature has shown that there is no ready-made solution for the organization of the URMEP in Russian and foreign practice, although research in this direction is being carried out. Important indicators reflecting the efficiency of energy supply to consumers are efficiency, reliability and quality of energy supply to them. The costs spent on ensuring the functioning of energy supply systems depend both on the cost of energy resources and on the location of each individual consumer in relation to power centers. This raises the urgent task of finding the radius of effective power supply (REPS), within which the financial and economic effect for consumers and the system as a whole can be provided when building the URMEP.

Krupenev D.S., Boyarkin D.A., Iakubovskii D.V. (ESI SB RAS, Irkutsk)
Abstract. The paper deals with the analysis of the reliability of modern distribution electrical networks during their transformation into microgrid. The first part of the paper discusses the issue of the increased relevance of solving the problem of assessing the reliability of distribution networks in modern conditions of operation and development, gives a brief description of the reliability management system, and also presents a description of the types of system reliability and tasks that are solved on the basis of reliability assessment. The second part of the article presents a classification of reliability assessment methods and proposes two algorithms for assessing system reliability based on machine learning methods. The third part of the article presents the results of experimental studies of the proposed algorithms.
Keywords: system reliability, distribution network, microsystem, estimation, Monte Carlo method, machine learning methods.

Improvement of Distribution Network Operation Reliability by Making Effi cient use of Energy Storage Systems
Ilyushin P.V. (Energy Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (ERI RAS), Moscow)
Abstract. Energy storage systems (ESS) are more commonly used in power systems of different countries nowadays to solve a lot of acute tasks. Pilot projects on using ESS in combination of distributed generation facilities, including renewable energy source (RES)-based facilities, on providing the reliable power supply of key consumers, and maintenance of required energy quality indices are carried out in many Russian regions. Variants of ESS efficient use in distribution networks and the list of issues to be solved to broaden its scope are considered in this article. Justification is provided for the need of development and approval of the list of advanced ESS application methods together with elaboration of relevant regulatory legal acts. ESS regulatory documentation that contains technical requirements, selection guidelines, and testing procedures should be developed as well. The need of including ESS into the system service market and creation of the network service market for the purpose of providing the investment return into ESS construction and operation is justified. The personnel of engineering, installation, commissioning, and distribution grid companies should improve its qualification with regard to specific aspects of ESS introduction and operation. To take ESS operation experience into account, it should be gathered, studied and revised by example of pilot projects of ESS application in Russia.
Keywords: distribution networks, reliability, energy storage system, technical requirements, system service market, payback principles, methodical guidelines.
Efficiency Analysis of Electrical Energy Storage System as Part of an Autonomous Hybrid Power Plant for Frequency Control

Abstract. The application of an electrical energy storage system (EESS) in an off-grid power system with a solar-diesel power plant is considered in order to reduce frequency deviations to a level corresponding to the Unified power system of Russia. The proposed control algorithm combines disturbance control and frequency deviation control, allowing to achieve the smallest frequency deviation under conditions of an abruptly variable load. The efficiency of the algorithm is confirmed by transient processes simulation in the power system with a periodic abrupt load change and with the power consumption schedule registered by the field measurements in the power system with abruptly variable load.

Organization of Diagnostics of Submersible Electrical Installations for Oil Production and Their Elements
Romanov V.S., Samolina O.V. (Togliatti State University) Goldstein V.G. (Samara State Technical University)
Abstract. An algorithm for organizing the diagnosis of submersible equipment (SE) in oil production enterprises (OPE) using vibroacoustic diagnostics is considered. According to the complexity and depth of the tasks to be solved, three interrelated levels of diagnostics of submersible equipment are proposed. The accident base for submersible electrical installations (SEI) in the Volga region has been compiled and analyzed. The impact of each technological violation in the overall chain of failures, which are the result of a complex of external and internal processes, in which SEI objects participate, is assessed. At the same time, both external operational physical impacts and internal processes (primarily aging and operational disruptions), both individually and, most often, together in various combinations, in one way or another reduce the ability of a particular SEI object to resist the development of its internal resources. The described methodology makes it possible to identify such SEI failure properties as the degree of randomness of the process itself, which is not available with the usual real-time representation.
