Working results of the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” in 2022

Despite in-depth shocks in the world political and energy situation, the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” continued its sustainable work as an independent and reputable media platform for power grid operation and development issues in 2022.

In conditions of different multiple sanctions, disruption of power products delivery chains and rough changes in energy markets the demand of field-specific specialists for acute and reliable information about new developments and scientific breakthroughs has considerably increased. Following the needs of the professional community, the editorial stuff of the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” has introduced several useful innovations that decisively facilitated the access to information:

  1. In March, 2022 the official Telegram-channel of the publication was registered. It provides announcements of latest issues and special issues of the journal, their top news, announcements of field-specific events, articles, interviews, photo and video. More than 330 publications have been posted  within less than a year, the regular audience is above 780 people.
  2. Huge work has been carried out for keeping the positions of the journal in the list of Higher Attestation Commission. Since October, 21st, 2022 the journal was included into the List of peer-reviewed scientific publications of Higher Attestation Commission (HAC) at the Ministry of Science and Education of Russia by four profession groups: 2.4.1. Theoretical and application power engineering, 2.4.2. Power engineering complexes and systems, 2.4.3. Power industry and 2.4.5. Power systems and complexes. The journal is assigned to K1 category, the first in order of importance by HAC.
  3. During the subscription campaign 2022–2023 the editorship of the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” facilitated the procedure of online subscription for legal and physical entities. Now physical entities can subscribe and pay for the subscription for а hardcopy or an electronic version of the journal as well as to buy a particular article from the private access stock directly on the publication web-site.

Besides expanding its digital online services, the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” was doing a lot of offline information work. Together with Rosseti company it has organized one of the biggest field-specific events – the VII-th International Scientific and Technical Conference “Development and reliability improvement of distribution networks”. This event was held in association with CIS Electric Power Council, National Research University MPEI, Melentiev Energy Systems Institute, Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences. More than 820 specialists from 13 CIS and non-CIS countries, including the largest power grid companies’ representatives, equipment manufacturers and service providers, experts from industry agencies and scientists participated in it. Due to tough sanctions of foreign states many field-specific events have become inaccessible for Russian specialists. Therefore, in 2022 the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” played an important role in international information exchange being an official media partner of the 49th Session of CIGRE and CIRED-2022 Seminar. Being the member of GEIDCO, it provided its audience with reviews of several major events and webinars of this international organization.

In December, 2022 Chen Xupeng, Head of Eastern Europe – Central Asia department of GEIDCO, Global Energy Interconnection Development and Cooperation Organization, visited the editorship of “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” journal. He discussed business opportunities with its management.

A lot of work has been done together with Russian companies and experts, including PJSC Rosseti group of companies. For the seventh year in a row the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” has published special issues aimed for sharing the operational experience and the power grid development.

In summer 2022 the editorship of the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” published the book “Technical condition evaluation of power transformers and autotransformers for 110 kV and higher voltage”.

The journal specialists reported about the events of PJSC Rosseti group of companies, including six meetings of the Scientific and Technical Council, the meeting of chief engineers, the inspection “Brand-new means of protection. Smart technologies”, the exhibition of innovative technologies of PJSC “Rosseti Center”, the production meeting dedicated to relay protection and automation, and automated control systems, the Day of presentations of PJSC “Rosseti Lenenergo” and many others.

The journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” representatives have visited the modern production site of power transformers with amorphous alloy cores in the city of Vladimir.

As for field-specific events intended for revealing the potential of young specialists and developing the practical skills of the personnel of power grid companies, the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” has once again supported holding of the jubilee All-Russia competition in the field of high-tech innovative projects and developments “Energoproryv-2022”. In addition, the publication was the general media partner of All-Russia professional skill competition “Best in profession” in the nomination “Best electrician”. Its finals were held in Svetlogorsk, Kaliningrad region. It has become a tradition for the publication to provide information support for the National Research University MPEI, to be a strategic media partner of the championship “CASE-IN’ in the line of “Power Engineering”. It was the first time the journal representatives visited the demo exam in Shchelkovski college, where the students proved their competence in “Operation of cable transmission lines” after the study carried out by WorldSkills standards  (the video is available).

In 2022 the journal issues were presented to participants and visitors of more than 30 field-specific exhibitions in Russia and CIS-countries.

In the new 2023 year the journal “ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and distribution” will continue to broaden the range of topics and improve the quality of published materials, develop international cooperation and client services to make the publication still more user-friendly.
