NPO Streamer JSC Announces 
the VII Russian Conference 
on Lightning Protection

On April 21-23, 2020, St. Petersburg will host the VII Russian Conference on Lightning Pro-
tection organized by NPO Streamer JSC. It will be held at Astoria Hotel. Preparations for this 
event have already started – the Company used the experience of previous conferences to 
make the event even more interesting and informative the next year.

is  attended  by  major  na-

tional  and  world  research-

ers,  representatives  of  key 

electric  grid  companies  of  Russia, 

oil  and  gas  industry  experts,  stu-

dents  and  graduate  students.  The 

event  attracts  foreign  luminaries  of 

scientifi c thinking in the fi eld of light-

ning physics and lightning protection 

from a dozen diff erent countries.

Each year, the Organizing Com-

mittee  is  assisted  by  the  Russian 

Academy  of  Sciences  (RAS),  Ros-

seti  PJSC  and  Peter  the  Great  St. 

Petersburg Technical University.

ning protection that brings together

search  and  expert  community,  and

sociated  with  thunderstorms  and

er for the emergence of new trends, 

discussion  of  the  phenomena  na-

ture. He emphasized the benefi t of 

this  approach  for  practitioners  and

of lightning protection equipment in 

emergence of new trends, discuss-

ing the nature of phenomena, is dif-

fi cult  to  overestimate.  I  would  wish 

to  thank  NPO  Streamer  JSC  for 

their eff orts in organizing this event.

ence may be used to develop new

The fi rst Conference on Lightning 

Protection  was  held  in  2010.  Over 

the  years,  it  has  established  itself 

as an eff ective and credible platform 

to  share  views  and  discuss  critical 

issues  of  lightning  protection.  The 

number  of  Conference  participants 

is rising every year, their geography 

and number of reports is expanding.

tive  innovative  lightning  protection 

methods.

traditionally been well developed  in 

Russia.

books  on  lightning  protection  have

in this fi eld due to the fact that we 

started  to  explore  lightning  in  the 

1930s. For me, the main goal of the 

Conference  on  Lightning  Protec-

tion is to share our experience with 

younger generation, to successfully 

implement all our unfi nished ideas”, 

he says.

The  growing  interest  from  pro-

fessional  society,  the  variety  and 

high  quality  of  presentations,  inter-

est of researchers and experts – all 

this shows that the VII Russian Con-

ference  on  lightning  protection  will 

take place!
