Improvement of Distribution Networks”

and Technical Exhibition “EEPiR”

The conference has been held in Moscow annually since 2015 (except for 2020 due 

to the COVID-19 pandemic). Nowdays it is the largest professional power industry 

business event in Russia aimed at solving topical issues of power distribution net-

works and exchanging experience between specialized leaders. The conference 

and the accompanying Technical Exhibition "EEPiR" are organised by PJSC Rosseti* 

and the "ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and Distribution" journal.

The next IX conference is scheduled for July 2024.

AIMS OF THE CONFERENCE

1.  Organizing a dialogue between technical leadership of electric grid compa-

nies in Russia and abroad and related organizations on topical issues in the 
fi eld of operation and development of power distribution networks, encour-
aging the exchange of best practices among power industry professionals.

2.  Development of new and adjustment of existing technical solutions to im-

prove the effi  ciency of power distribution network operation.

3.  Promoting a unifi ed technical policy in the power distribution sector.

STANDOUT CONFERENCE FEATURES

The event is supported by the Ministry of Energy 
of the Russian Federation with the assistance of:
•  JSC United Energy Company (UNECO) – one 

of  the  largest  power  grid  companies  in  Mos-
cow;

•  Executive  Committee  of  the  Electric  Power 

Council of the Commonwealth of Independent 
States (EPC of CIS);

•  National Research University "Moscow Power 

Engineering Institute" (MPEI);

•  Melentiev Energy Systems Institute of the Rus-

sian Academy of Sciences Siberian Branch;

•  “ERA of Russia” Association – all-Russian In-

dustrial Association of Employers in the Elec-
tric  Power  Industry,  the  largest  association  of 
employers in the fuel and energy sector.
To  date,  the  conference  is  the  only  Russian 

event focused solely on the issues of the power 
distribution sector.

The event participants are leaders and techni-

cal specialists representing various categories of 
organizations-owners  of  power  distribution  net-
works from large state holding enterprises to small 
private organizations and energy departments of 
oil and gas companies as well as science repre-
sentatives and product manufacturers.

Within the framework of the conference, since 

2021, a technical exhibition has been organized 
with  cutting-edge  solutions,  master  classes  and 
a direct dialogue between leaders and manufac-
turers.

Based  on  each  conference  reports,  the  orga-

nizing committee forms a fi nal document contain-
ing  recommendations  for  technical  leadership  of 
electric grid companies, equipment manufacturers, 
scientifi c  institutions  and  sectoral  authorities.  The 
document contains improving key areas of the elec-
tric grid sector, the legislative and regulatory frame-
work as well as amending and supplementing the 
power industry standards and regulations.

he  VIII  conference  held  on 
5-6  July  2023  welcomed 
more  than  1300  people 
from  all  Russian  regions 

from  Kaliningrad  to  Sakhalin  and 
CIS countries – Republic of Belarus, 
Republic  of  Tajikistan,  Republic  of 
Kazakhstan).  The  conference  par-
ticipants  included  all  categories  of 
distribution  networks  owners:  from 
large  state  holding  enterprises  to 
small  private  organizations  and 
energy  departments  of  oil  and  gas 
companies  as  well  as  science  rep-
resentatives  and  product  manufac-
turers.  All  participants  have  unique 
experience in power distribution net-
works  operation  of  diff erent  scales: 
from large regions and metropolitan 
cities  to  small  villages  and  farms, 
and  in  diff erent  geographical  and 
climatic conditions.

The  Conference-2023  was

focused  primarily  on  the  high-
quality  renewal  of  power  distri-
bution  facilities  and  support  for 
strengthening  the  reliability  and 
security of networks

All conference discussions were 

divided into six technical sessions:

SESSION 1.

 Planning of the distri-

bution grid development.

SESSION  2.

  Possibilities  of  apply-

ing innovative solutions in distri-
bution networks.

SESSION 3.

 Application of new di-

agnostic  methods  and  tools  for 
repair activities planning.

SESSION 4.

 Power supply reliability 

during  scheduled  and  emergen-
cy operations.

SESSION  5.

  Relay  protection  and 

automation  of  distribution  net-
works.

SESSION 6.

 Occupation safety.

Selected  results  of  the  works 

and  researches  were  announced 
at an additional poster session.

In  total,  more  than  90  reports 

were  considered  in  the  technical 
and poster sessions.

A  number  of  important  agree-

ments  were  signed  at  the  confer-
ence. In such a way, high productive-
ness of the event was demonstrated. 
Rosseti  Group  signed  agreements 
to unify the procedure and scope of 
work  for  servicing  RPA  and  CPCS 
devices as well as to develop coop-

eration with nine Russian equipment 
manufacturers.  This  will  enhance 
power supply reliability, improve the 
speed  and  quality  of  repair  servic-
es,  upgrade  production  assets  and 
shorten  the  construction  period  of 
the facilities. It will also provide the 
necessary information exchange for 
product quality growth and will help 
to develop new solutions.

JSC  “UNECO”  and  the  largest

vocational colleges in Moscow held
a  solemn  ceremony  of  signing 
agreements on cooperation.

Moscow State University of Civil 

Engineering  (MGSU)  and  Carabelli 
S.r.l. company signed a cooperation 
agreement  on  the  development  of 
regulatory  and  technical  documen-
tation  for  work  at  height  on  power 
industry facilities.

The "ELECTRIC POWER. Transmission and Distribution" journal

as an organiser of industry-speci

 c business events 

  13 years of experience in organising thematic con-

ferences, meetings, round tables, seminars, exhibi-
tions, master classes and other power industry busi-
ness events.

  Organising  events  on  a  turn-key  basis:  from  site 

selection and drafting of the programme to speak-
ers  and  audience  engagеment  and  information 
support.

  The  editorial  board  and  experts  of  the  journal  par-

ti ci pate  in  shaping  the  thematic  programme  of  the 

event and provide the expert evaluation of all its pro-
ceedings.

  The  journal's  specialists  take  over  processing  the 

results of the event, consolidating proposals, creat-
ing  analytical  notes  on  the  practical  application  of 
the issues discussed, and distributing reports on the 
event.  Reports,  reviews  and  articles  on  the  event 
materials  are  published  in  the  "ELECTRIC  POW-
ER. Transmission and distribution" journal and on-
line at www.eepir.ru.

More  than  55  companies  presenting  advanced 
technical  solu tions  in  more  than  20  areas  took 
part in the technical exhibi tion "EEPiR". The pro-
gramme of the event included visits of top man-
agers  of  companies,  heads  of  departments  and 
key technical specialists to the exhibition booths 
of manufacturers and suppliers of electrical prod-
ucts.  Master  classes  on  practical  application  of 
fundamentally  new  technical  solutions  were  or-
ga nised.  This  facilitates  a  fruitful  dialogue  be-
tween the scien tifi c community and the business 
community on advanced develop ments and inno-
vative solutions for distribution networks.
